Truterra to power new capability within EFC Systems’ widely used FieldAlytics platform that will open up new ways for ag retailers to demonstrate value to grower customers
Land O’ Lakes SUSTAIN kicked off a new partnership within the Cannon River watershed, located in southern Minnesota. The Cannon River Agricultural Collaborative aims to deliver conservation services to growers and landowners within the watershed. The group models their efforts from the already successful Cedar River Watershed Partnership. Partners in the Cannon River Agricultural Collaborative include: Land O’ Lakes SUSTAIN, Central Farm Service, Cannon River Watershed Partnership, Rice SWCD, Steele SWCD, Cannon River 1 Watershed 1 Plan, Minnesota Agricultural Water Quality Certification Program, Great River Greening, Environmental Initiative, and Jennie-O.
The Cannon River Agricultural Collaborative is a unique group spanning across public, private and non-profit entities working together to implement conservation practices and improve sustainability in Minnesota. By bringing together public, private and non-profit entities it supports collaboration and capacity to improve farmers' ability to understand and implement conservation. Bridging the gaps between the partners, gives farmers access to critical conservation resources, services, and cost share opportunities.
The Collaborative’s goal is to support water quality in the region and improve natural resources. By utilizing the partners’ unique skillsets and resources, the Collaborative is able to measure success through the Truterra Insights Engine and the number of farmers certified through the Minnesota Agricultural Water Quality Certification Program (MAWQCP). By bringing together public and private partners, the Collaborative provides support for farmers and streamlines the process of implementing conservation practices in Minnesota. The Collaborative will work with farmers to determine the best farming strategies on their operations and provide the tools and resources needed to make these changes with the goal of reaching certification through the MAWQCP.
The Collaborative’s diverse group of partners brings together conservation expertise, trusted resources for agronomic advice, cutting edge ag technology tool, and the ability to get involved in community outreach. Having a centralized location for farmers’ conservation needs will support an increase in conservation practices in the watershed.
The Collaborative recently kicked off their efforts by hosting a field day on September 16 near Northfield, MN where the Collaborative shared how they will work together to help farmers implement conservation. The event featured Spencer Herbert from Land O’ Lakes SUSTAIN who spoke on our Truterra Insights Engine tool as well as how the Collaborative will work to streamline the communication between farmers and the partners.
